Our story

Recovery that is both disciplined and life-giving.

Founded in 2017 · San Antonio, Texas

New Day Sober Living provides a structured, supportive environment for men and women recovering from alcohol and drug addiction.

Our homes serve as a bridge between treatment and independent living — whether residents are stepping down from inpatient care, participating in outpatient treatment, or actively working a twelve-step program.

New Day was founded in 2017 by Ben Hammond and Clark Cadwallader on the belief that recovery should be both disciplined and life-giving. Residents live alongside a community of peers committed to accountability, growth, and long-term sobriety, with access to clinical support through New Day Recovery Services.

At New Day, recovery is more than abstinence. It's structure, community, clinical support, and the opportunity to build a life worth living.

Our team

The people behind New Day.

Ben Hammond, Founder of New Day
Ben Hammond, BAFounder

Ben has served our recovery communities for over 20 years. His history in wellness began as an owner of recovery homes and guiding experiential adventure trips across North America. As a person in long-term recovery, Ben specializes in the pre-treatment and post-treatment process, including interventions, relapse prevention, life and recovery coaching, and educating and empowering families.

Ben is a long-time resident of San Antonio along with his wife Margaret and daughter Elizabeth Grace. He attended TCU as a geology major and the University of Texas at San Antonio, earning a BBA in Entrepreneurship. Somewhere along the way, almost every clinician, client, and family member encounters Ben.

"I feel blessed to be a part of such a fine recovery program and community in the area I grew up in. Designing long-term recovery goals and achieving them will be a mainstay of our commitment to the individual, the families, the workplace, and the communities they live in."
