LIFE AT NEW DAY SOBER LIVING

The following is a list of items that will be implemented and/or what you can expect
to happen during a resident’s stay at New Day Sober Living.

Phase System:

o    NDSL operates on a phase system. Upon entering, residents are
placed on Phase 1. As the residents progress through the phase system, more freedom and privileges are given.

Life Skills:

o    Discipline: As part of NDSL, residents will learn to be diligent
with assigned house chores, attending the minimum amount of outside recovery meetings
as well as in-house meetings at NDSL, demonstrate consistency holding a job and paying collected wages towards rent. The men at NDSL will learn to take responsibility for their actions and lives, as well as learn how to manage time.

o    Cleanliness: All residents are assigned house chores and are encouraged to keep their rooms clean and belongings orderly. The community, along with staff, learn to hold each other accountable.

o    Financial Management: NDSL will help residents setup a budget, open checking and savings accounts, track their spending, and monitor savings.

o    Recreational Activities: Physical activity, self-discipline, endurance, goal-setting and stress relief have proven to be critical for men in recovery. We also think it is important to have fun in recovery! We have regular sponsored outings at NDSL to show residents how fun sobriety can be.

o    Relationships: Residents will learn how to communicate their feelings
and emotions in a healthy, appropriate ways with both friends and family.

First week(s):

o    During the first week at NDSL, new residents will get to know the community. They will begin researching employment opportunities and formulating a plan during this time. It is strongly encouraged that new residents enroll in an outpatient treatment program upon move in. New Day can help facilitate this.

o    They will find a sponsor, and begin working the steps. If worked on
diligently, this will consume a lot of their time.

o    We ask new residents to limit contact with family for the first week in
order to promote a speedy assimilation into the community. Family and
friends are asked to not schedule any visitation before consulting with
NDSL management.
